STEM Camps for Students
STEM camps will be available at multiple sites in the summer of 2023. Locations for the 2023 District (Local) Camps will be listed by February 2023.
The national STEM camp will be held in Arlington, TX June 26-29, 2023. Topics for the district camps will be different from the national camp. If you are a high school student and wish to attend the National Quantum STEM camp in 2023, please fill out the application. https://utaedu.questionpro.com/student2023 Topics for the National Camp include:
- Levitation (Magnetic and Quantum)
- Cryogenics and Laser Cooling
- Cybersecurity, Information Transmission, Entanglement
- Quantum Sensors and Medical Applications
- STEM career opportunities and Engineering Design
Teachers who attended in 2022 are eligible to apply for funds to hold a camp in their district, so ask your teacher if they are going to have a camp on your camp. Locations will be determined by the teachers hosting the camps. There will be a small fee associated with the application to ensure commitment from those applying and to pay for a camp t-shirt. Scholarships will be available if needed.
Camps are part of a NSF grant, which includes a research study titled, “Quantum for All Students”. Students can choose to participate in this research study if you have permission from your parents (if under the age of 18). Your decision about whether to participate is entirely up to you. If you decide not to be in the study, there won’t be any punishment or penalty; whatever your choice, there will be no impact on participation in the camp. You can still participate in the camp if you don’t participate in the research
